Hydraulic press forging is a metal forming process that uses slow, controlled pressure from a hydraulic press to shape heated workpieces into precise, complex components such as shafts, gears, turbine disks and structural parts in aerospace, automotive, power generation and heavy machinery industries. The process enhances material properties by refining grain structure, reducing porosity and increasing strength and toughness, while providing superior control over deformation for consistent quality. Gradual pressure application minimises stress concentrations and defects, allowing efficient material use, and ensuring high dimensional accuracy, even in large or intricate parts.

CLOSED DIE HYDRAULIC PRESS FORGING AT IFA

Our 1750 tonne Hydraulic Press Forge handles pieces ranging from 150-1000 mm length, 50 to 375 mm in diameter and 2 – 250kg – forging high integrity components such as housings, casings, closed and open tubes, spindles and shafts for Defence, Aerospace, Off-Highway, Power Generation and Specialist Automotive markets.

forging capability investment

We’re currently working on installing and commissioning a new 3000 tonne CLOSED DIE HYDRAULIC PRESS FORGE to significantly extend our existing capabilities and capacity.
